If you’re anything like me, autumn is your favorite season of the year. There's something about the cool mornings and warm afternoons, the vibrant colors of changing leaves, and the sense of new beginnings that makes this time so special. Fall is not only a beautiful season—it also marks the start of a new academic quarter for all of us here at Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC).

As we find ourselves in the midst of in-service week, there’s a sense of anticipation at the College. Faculty and staff are working diligently to prepare for the start of classes on Monday, September 29th. The first day of the term is always filled with excitement and energy. Our classrooms, labs, hallways, and student centers will soon come alive again with the sounds of students reconnecting, making new friends, and diving into their studies after the summer break.

Adding to the excitement, Monday also marks the return of the Campus Fair, organized by our incredible Associated Student Government and Student Programs teams. This event brings together a variety of campus organizations and community vendors, all of whom are ready to share valuable resources and opportunities with students. It’s a fantastic way for new and returning students to explore everything our community has to offer beyond the classroom.

As I’ve shared before, TVCC boasts a vibrant student life experience, thanks in large part to our dedicated student leadership.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to be bringing back one of our most popular signature events—the Chukar Fall Festival—on Tuesday, October 7th. This welcome-back celebration will feature fun activities designed for students, faculty, and staff alike. Highlights include a free BBQ, introductions to college programs and staff, and the always-entertaining "Minute to Win It" competition.

Also on Tuesday, October 7th, beginning at 4:30, the Athletic Department will host a TVCC Athletics Department Open House/Meet and Greet, inviting Treasure Valley Community College faculty, staff, board members, foundation board members, and the community to meet our athletic director, coaches, student-athletes, and tour the athletics' facilities. With many new faces joining us this year, it’s an excellent opportunity to build relationships and learn more about our growing athletics programs. Join us for both events on October 7th!

TVCC will also host a grand re-opening at our Harney County Center in Burns on Wednesday, October 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (PST), featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m.  If you are in the Burns area, stop by to learn about the plans for the center, as well as opportunities for dual credit and nursing assistant programs at the high school.

If you are interested in attending TVCC or know someone who is, it’s not too late to sign up for classes. We are offering a last-minute opportunity for walk-in advising in the Student Services Center on Wednesday, September 24, through Friday, September 26, and also on Monday, September 29, through Tuesday, September 30. To learn more, please call 541-881-5815.

Fall is a time of fresh starts and renewed connections, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. Thank you for being a part of our vibrant TVCC community. Here’s to a successful and inspiring start to the new academic year!
